Ifit Is Ending – Small Group Starting

Hey Folks

A lot of stuff happened at last night’s iFit so this email provides a summary for those that were not there. Mandy and Lilly will be moving away this coming Saturday, so last night was their last visit. We had brownies and ice cream to see them off. Next, we had a lengthy discussion with Bruce and Becky about iFit’s future.

We announced that both Dean and I will be stepping down from iFit’s leadership. Both Dean and I approached Becky and Bruce several months back stating we were hoping to step down and we had several discussions with them to determine what that means for iFit. We want to thank everyone so much for supporting us as the leaders and we are so blessed to have had this opportunity.

Last night, Bruce and Becky gave some insight about the direction of Cornerstone as whole is going in regards to small groups. Over the past couple of months there has been a growth of small groups at cornerstone, I think somewhere around eight exist. So it’s only in God’s timing how the church has this expansion of small groups at the same time that Dean and I are choosing to step away from iFit leadership.

So what does this mean for iFit? Effective of last night, the group known as iFit does not exist anymore. But, the group formerly known as iFit will begin transitioning into a small group. While iFit is currently like a small group in some ways, there are some significant differences. This new small group will no longer be an “official” face to cornerstone. In the past, iFit has been advertised as the place for people of a certain age range to go, much like how children go to kids club and youth go to pulse. It will no long have the pressure of bringing new people into the group and trying to make the group into something as the name suggests, where everyone fits in. The group will need to choose a new name so it won’t be confused with iFit. The age requirements are lifted. Also, since Dean and I are stepping down, there may not be a leader. Like other small groups, it might be that for six weeks one person steps up to lead, then the next four weeks someone else steps up to lead. Perhaps a few would like to try out the other small groups at the church. Overall, the group will be more fluid and adaptable to whatever you decide.

Next week, March 30, there will be a brainstorming session at our usual 7pm time slot to discuss what you all want to do with the group. It is your choice! Please be thinking and praying about the group over the next week and bring your ideas and questions to this brainstorming session.
