Hey all,
July 10 - Cuban Dinner Night
Meet at 6:30pm at Cornerstone and we’ll car pool.
Or if you want to just meet us at the restaurant here is the address:
Cuba de Ayer - 15446 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville, MD 20866
(in case you’re wondering… the name means Yesterday’s Cuba, as in Cuba of the Old Days)
July 15 - Its Just Brunch
Cornerstone is having a church wide brunch after the worship service this coming Sunday. iFit will be doing the pastries and bread table. Tanja is in charge of organizing. Talk to her if you want to help buy stuff.
July 17 - Weekly Devotional with a splash!!
We’re going to do the weekly devotional at Doug’s apartment for a fun afternoon at the swimming pool. We’ll also do a cookout on the grill with hamburgers and hotdogs. You can begin showing up around 4:30pm if you want to sun bathe and swim. Then we’ll eat dinner and have the devotional around 6:30pm. If its raining and you have a fear of getting wet while swimming, we’ll still meet at Doug’s for the devotional.
If you want to attend this, reply to this email and let me know so I have an idea how much food/people to expect.
Prayer Requests
Here are some of the things that are on the hearts and minds of the iFit members. Please keep one another in your thoughts and prayers.
Cheryl’s Grandmother Josephine and Grandfather - Josephine has just been admitted to Hospice. The whole family needs prayer as they go through this hard time. Especially Josephine’s husband as he struggles to cope.
Brandon’s Father Tommy - Still having trouble with his heart.
Lisa - Nursing exams on July 12
Jerimi’s Boss Bob - Has cancer
NEW Calendar of Events!!!
The iFit team has been working over the past couple of meetings to come up with some new and exciting events for the next three months. Although these events are not set in stone, they’re pretty much final:
Movie Night - Friday July 20
public, open air theater, much like a driven-in theater. Located under the people tree at Columbia Town Center Lakefront off Little Patuxent Pkwy (near Copelands, Sushi Sono, and Clyde’s). The movie is Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest. Movie starts at 8:30 but we will meet at 6:30pm for dinner. Dinner location TBA.
Final Day to Buy King’s Dominion Tickets - Tuesday July 31
Mairim needs your money by this day to get tickets to King’s Dominion. Tickets are $20.
Doug and Lisa’s Wedding - Saturday Aug 4
I know this isn’t really an iFit event… but everyone is invited even though it is in North Carolina, almost 5hrs away.
Picnic/Cookout - Saturday Aug 11
Cheryl has volunteered to have the picnic at her place. I’m guessing probably around 6:30pm like all other dinners.
Bowling - Friday Aug 24
We’ll eat dinner at 6:30pm at CiCi’s pizza on Route 40. Then head down the road to the AMF bowling lanes for a night of duck pin bowling.
CiCi’s Pizza - 6473 Baltimore National Pike, Baltimore, MD 21228
AMF Westview Lanes - 5647 Baltimore National Pike, Baltimore, MD 21228
Fondue Dinner - Saturday Sep 1
6:30pm at the Melting Pot - 10451 Twin Rivers Rd, Columbia MD
Kings Dominion - Saturday Sep 22
Northrop Grumman Employee Day - Mairim is getting us tickets through NGC. The park is completely shut down to the public and open only to NGC employees and their friends/family. Tickets are $20.
Camping - NO DATE SET
Jerimi has volunteered to organize a camping trip.
We suggested on a Friday night, because a Saturday night wouldn’t work for the people who have other commitments on Sunday mornings.
Open Days Are:
Aug 17/18
Sep 7/8
Sep 14/15
Sep 28/29
Or we could have the camping trip be the first event in October, maybe something like Oct 5/6 or 12/13.
Or we could switch it with Bowling or Fondue on Aug 24/25 or Aug31/Sep1
