Bible Studies

Every week, iFit gets together for a devotional bible study thing. It consists of an interactive question and answer session, lite scripture readings, and a few worship songs. The devotional meetings are located at the Cornerstone Worship Center 7:00pm every Tuesday evening.

Below are summaries from the devotional/bible study meetings. Some also have hand outs that you can work on during your own study time in case you missed the meeting. Enjoy!

February 23 – March 16, 2010 – How to Read the Bible
Summary:
So we’ve just concluded our series on reading the bible. Special thanks to Becky for preparing it! I’ve attached the worksheets from the series so that you can use them in your personal bible study. As we discussed, it is helpful to answer the question sheets for any passage of scripture. I’ve also posted the Icebreaker Sheets.

July 28, 2009 – Disappointment with God – Week 3 – The Son Draws Us Closer
Summary:
How the Son draws us closer to God. Tonight’s icebreaker was “Fill in the comic strip.” Each person took a random comic and had to fill in the text bubble with something about “Christ.” It could be anything, funny, emotional, etc. For example, two women talking at a table with one having her head in her hands. The other woman says “The immaculate conception excuse has already been used.”

July 21, 2009 – Disappointment with God – Week 2 – Making Contact With God
Summary:
Ever wonder how God feels when we screw up? God took a lot of risk creating man. He gave us free will, we can choose to follow him or we can resist. In essence, he hand cuffed Himself. The night’s lesson began with an icebreaker in role playing. We had several mini skits which portrayed tough situations we may feel disappointment in God, ending with a story of a child doing stupid things and a parent feeling pain. Following the icebreaker, Pastor Bruce lead the study.

Summary:
Tonight, we began the next series on “Disappointment with God” by Phillip Yancy. What is the situation? Is God unfair? Is God Silent? Is God Hidden? We started with an icebreaker game of picture association. Each person randomly got a picture, they they had to share with the group something that came to mind from the picture (life experience, fictional story, poem, etc).

June 23, 2009 – Nooma Rain by Rob Bell
Summary:
This evening we watched a video devotional with an question and answer session after.
Things don’t always work out the way we want them to, or the way we think they will. Sometimes we don’t even see it coming. We get hit with some form of pain out of nowhere leaving us feeling desperate and helpless. That’s the way life is. Still, it makes us wonder how God can let these things happen to us. How God can just stand by and watch us suffer. Where is God when it really hurts? Maybe God is actually closer to us than we think. Maybe it’s when we’re in these situations, where everything seems to be falling apart, that God gets an opportunity to remind us of how much he really loves us.
